World Environment Day Celebration 2026
St. Joseph’s Arts and Science College, Pavaratty, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 on 5 June 2026 at the College Portico under the theme “Inspired by Nature. For climate. For our future.” The programme was organized by the Environment Club to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students.
The programme began with a prayer, followed by a welcome address by Ms. Silpa Joshy C., Programme Coordinator. Rev. Fr. Sebi Palamattath, CMI, Manager, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and responsible living.
During the felicitation session, Rev. Fr. Jithin Jose Kalan, CMI, Director, highlighted the role of educational institutions in fostering environmental responsibility. Prof. (Dr.) Biju John M., Principal, encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly habits and contribute to a greener future. Ms. Gouri Prakash, Student Representative of the Environment Club, motivated students to actively participate in environmental protection initiatives.
The formal session concluded with a vote of thanks by Sahla V. P., Environment Club Member. The celebration also featured a Thumb Print Tree Art activity, tree planting, creatively expressing their commitment to environmental protection through artwork.
Sea Turtle Conservation Awareness Class Conducted
As part of World Environment Day celebrations, on June 5th 2026, the Environment Club of St. Joseph’s Arts and Science College, Pavaratty, in association with the Department of Botany, St. Thomas College, Thrissur, and the Chavakkad Surya Sea Turtle Conservation Committee, organized an awareness class on sea turtle conservation.
The session was led by Mr. Syed Mohammed, Convener of the Surya Sea Turtle Conservation Committee, while Dr. Anto P. V., Head of the Department of Botany, St. Thomas College, delivered the introductory address.
The programme provided participants with valuable knowledge on sea turtle conservation, hatchery management, and biodiversity protection. Around sixty students participated in the event.
