INAUGURATION OF ENGLISH ASSOCIATION AND TALK ON INDIAN AESTHETICS
On January 25th, 2024, the English Association of the PG Department of English was inaugurated at St. Joseph’s Arts and Science College, a momentous occasion marked by esteemed addresses and cultural enrichment. Fr. Jijo Theethai CMI, the Director of the institution, delivered the benedictory address, setting a tone of reverence and auspiciousness for the event. Following this, Principal Dr. Joshi C. O. delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the importance of academic and cultural endeavors. Neena Priyadarshiny George, the Head of the Department of English, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, signifying the inclusivity and enthusiasm of the English department. The felicitation ceremony, graced by heads of various departments, underscored the collaborative spirit and mutual support within the institution. The event commenced with a captivating talk on Indian Aesthetics, focusing on the Rasa theory. Dr. Salini V. G., Assistant Professor from the PG Department of English at NSS College, Ottapalam graced the occasion. Notably, Dr. Salini is also renowned for her versatility in Mohiniattam and Koodiyattam performances. Dr. Salini’s session mesmerized the audience with her expressive portrayal of different bhavas and emotions, demonstrating the essence of Rasa theory through her artistic talents. Students were captivated by her beautiful performance, which vividly depicted various emotions.
Following the formal proceedings, attendees were treated to a sumptuous lunch. The post-lunch session saw students and teachers coming together to unwind and enjoy the day. Dancing to popular tunes, they celebrated in a joyous atmosphere, strengthening bonds and creating memorable experiences.
